How Bookmaker Pricing Works
Understanding why prices differ between bookmakers helps contextualise what an odds comparison tool shows you.
Bookmakers set their own prices independently
Each bookmaker employs its own team of traders who set prices based on statistical models, market activity, and the operator's risk appetite. This is why two bookmakers can offer different prices on the same outcome.
Margins are built into every price
Bookmakers build a profit margin (the 'overround' or 'vig') into their pricing. This means the implied probabilities of all outcomes in a market sum to more than 100%. OddsZoom displays raw prices — it does not calculate or display margins.
Prices change in response to the market
As wagers are placed with a bookmaker, the operator may adjust prices to manage liability. This is why the same market can carry different prices at different times and why comparison is most useful as close to the event as possible.
How OddsZoom Uses Bookmaker Data
OddsZoom is a comparison tool only. It does not accept bets, rank bookmakers by quality, or recommend operators.
Licensed operators only
OddsZoom only pulls data from bookmakers that hold licences with recognised gambling regulators in their operating jurisdictions.
No endorsement or ranking
OddsZoom does not rank, endorse, or recommend any bookmaker over another. Operators are listed alphabetically and their odds are displayed as-is.
Prices only — no accounts
OddsZoom displays pricing data only. We do not assist with registration, deposits, or withdrawals at any operator. Always read the terms of any bookmaker before registering.
